Meet Autumn
Hi, I’m Dr. Autumn Schoonover, a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Selah Therapy Collective, PLLC. I provide virtual therapy to clients across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
I didn’t build this practice because I’ve mastered stillness or have life perfectly balanced. I built it because, like many of the people I work with, I’ve had to learn-and re-learn-what it means to stop measuring my worth by productivity or perfection. I know firsthand that the "in-between" seasons of life can feel heavy and uncomfortable. But healing often begins when we stop pushing forward and start listening inward.

Who I Journey With
I strive to provide a calm, authentic, and deeply human space for high-functioning individuals who look like they have it all together but are secretly running on empty. I specialize in supporting:
-
The Perfectionists, High Achievers, People Pleasers, & Eldest Daughters: Those who give everything to others and never to themselves, struggling to take up space or voice their own needs.
-
Perinatal Individuals: Navigating the complex emotional landscape, unique pressures, and identity shifts of pregnancy and postpartum.
-
Those Facing Anxiety & Life Transitions: Anyone navigating the heavy uncertainty of major life changes, chronic stress, overwhelm, and burnout.
My Background & Approach
Throughout my career-spanning private practice, pediatric healthcare, college counseling, and community mental health-I’ve learned that true healing happens when we feel safe enough to slow down, drop the pressure to perform, and be fully seen.
The word Selah represents a pause, a breath, a moment to reflect. This practice exists to offer you that exact space to step away from the noise, restore your energy, and feel more connected to your needs.
I hold a Doctorate in Social Work from Barry University with a focus on trauma-informed care and leadership, alongside Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work from the University of North Carolina system.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of the office, I’m a wife, a mom, an avid reader, and a loyal Carolina Hurricanes fan. I’m also a devoted coffee lover with a very diverse playlist that ranges from Brandon Lake and Taylor Swift to the occasional pop-punk throwback.
I value meaningful conversation and honest growth. I believe the most important work we do isn’t about becoming perfect—it’s about becoming more fully ourselves.
Mission & Vision
Mission:
Selah Therapy Collective offers a calm, grounded space where healing can unfold at a sustainable pace. Through thoughtful, evidence-based therapy, individuals are supported in slowing down, reconnecting with themselves, and moving forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
Approach:
At Selah, therapy is centered on reflection, authenticity, and meaningful connection. This is a space where you don’t have to perform or have it all figured out—where your experiences are honored, and you’re supported in making sense of what you’re carrying. Together, we focus on creating steadiness, insight, and room for growth that feels realistic and lasting.
Vision:
The vision of Selah Therapy Collective is to create a therapeutic space where growth is not rushed and healing is not performative. A space where individuals feel safe to be fully seen, honor their needs, and move forward with greater presence and resilience—not because they are falling behind, but because they are becoming.
